If you’re in Moscow this summer—or following us on social media—you probably already know the library is currently undergoing remodeling. We’ll be closed until July 18, but that doesn’t mean you’re without library resources in the meantime!
What’s Still Available:
While our doors are closed, our Interlibrary Loan program is still running. You can request books using the form on the Tyndale Library website. Once your requested book arrives, we’ll notify you for pickup between 9-4. Just keep in mind that our response time might be a bit slower due to the ongoing remodel.
You are also more than welcome to place holds on Tyndale books, but we won’t be fulfilling those holds until the library is officially reopened.
If you, like me, are attempting to research your thesis this summer, the library offers great resources for the early stages of this type of project. Our curated research guides not only provide guides for specific topics, but also offer general help for those just starting their projects. The “Help With Research” section is a great place to start. I recommend the “Where to Start With Research” page if you need help getting organized before you dive in. The page lays out the early stages of paper writing from honing in on your idea to organizing a preliminary bibliography.
Digital Resources You Can Use Today:
Even while the physical library is closed, you still have access to a wide range of digital resources via our website and Populi. Here are a few highlights for fun summer reading:
Digital Public Library of America (DPLA)
A massive digital archive offering free access to ebooks from the New York Public Library, University of Michigan, Harvard, Library of Congress, and more.
Open Library
A project of the Internet Archive, this site aims to provide “one web page for every book ever published.” It offers over 1 million free ebooks, including a lending library of 200,000+ contemporary titles.
World Public Library
a part of a global effort to “preserve and disseminate classic works of literature, serials, bibliographies, dictionaries, encyclopedias and other reference works.” All books available here are free, but not all are in the public domain, so be sure to read the Terms & Conditions.
OverDrive / Libby
Tyndale’s growing digital collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks is available through OverDrive.
