Jayson Grieser is a literature professor at NSA and the valedictorian of the class of 2002. He co-published Calvinist Poetry with Doug Wilson in 2023 and recently took time to answer a few questions we had for him about it.
1. How did you first come up with the idea to curate and edit this book?
Pastor Wilson had a lot of the poems already selected. I asked him if I could write interpretations of each poem to go along with the selections. So in the book, you get some of the best short religious poems in English, along with guidance on how to read them.
2. How did your time at NSA help prepare you for writing and publishing it?
Teaching the Lyric class for several years prepared me.
3. Do you have any upcoming projects we should know about?
I'm working on a Roman Roads edition of Macbeth. Lord willing, it will be published in the fall.
4. What are you currently reading, or what was a book that you read recently and enjoyed?
I recently enjoyed reading John Frame's Apologetics to the Glory of God
